Celebrating 150 Years

A Message from the Principal, Mr Damian Smith

In 2021 our College celebrated 150 years of continuous Catholic education in the Josephite tradition. On the 17th of May in 1871 the founding Sisters of Saint Joseph held the first lessons in a shed on the Port Augusta Wharf with 56 students in attendance. Since this time we have grown to be a proud and successful College that continues to invite our community into an experience of faith and spirituality.

We value, foster and respect the uniqueness, dignity and integrity of each person. We form students to be charitable and compassionate. We foster an environment where a love of learning leads to personal excellence and holistic development for all. We build dynamic partnerships with families, students, staff and the community so all are included and feel welcome. Our College is a beautiful reflection of our founder, Saint Mary ‘of the Cross’ MacKillop, and the Sisters of Saint Joseph who epitomise the essence of our Catholic faith.

Our 150th anniversary gave us an opportunity to celebrate our strengths and achievements, proudly reflecting on all those who have come before us. We are energised by the wealth of possibilities that stand before us. May we all relish in the tremendous privilege of being part of the wonderful Caritas story and continue our work to ensure that our College remains a place where we can grow in love, wonder and understanding.

A place where we can grow

Joy in belonging | Pride in achieving | Hope in serving
