SAPSASA Boys Football Carnival

A number of students have been selected to participate in the SAPSASA Football Carnival as players and umpires on Friday 10 May at the Central Oval Complex, Port Augusta.  Students will need to arrive at Central Oval by 8.45am (a staff member will be available at the oval from 8.30am). Students will be dismissed from the venue at approximately 2.30pm. Students will not be permitted to leave the venue until this time

A number of students have been selected to participate in the SAPSASA Netball Carnival as both players and umpires on Friday 10 May at the Port Augusta Netball 
Courts.  Students will need to arrive at the courts by 8.45am (a staff member will be available at the courts from 8.30am). Students will be dismissed from the venue at approximately 2.30pm. Students will not be permitted to leave the venue until this time

Year 9 Outdoor Education Excursion - Almerta Station

During Term 1, students analysed, evaluated and created new and improved tourism campaigns to showcase various destinations around Australia. They explored the importance of tourism in communities and how to utilise natural resources. To finalise this unit, students will visit Almerta Station, north of Carrieton, to speak with Shane and Paddy Rowe who have flipped their station into a tourist destination. On return to Port Augusta, students will detour through Orroroo and stop in at various small businesses down the main street that have opened in recent years, highlighting the ways they are using tourism as a second stream of income for farming families. Students are to arrive at school at 8.45am for departure and will return at approx. 3.00pm.

Zones of Regulation

At Caritas College our students will be learning about The Zones of Regulation, a social thinking and social skills curriculum. The Zones help students become more aware of and in-control of their emotions and impulses. Using a cognitive behaviour approach, the curriculum’s learning activities are designed to help students recognise when they are in different states called ‘zones’, with each of the four zones represented by a different colour.  If you would like to learn more please visit the website

Years 3-12 SEQTA Engage

As part of the statewide initiative by Catholic Education SA, we have transitioned from ceSIS to CIVICA for our Student Information System.  Because of this upgrade, our connection to SEQTA Engage will temporarily be disrupted.  SEQTA Engage will be unavailable on Monday 22 April.  Unfortunately, as a result of the upgrade all users will have to recreate their usernames and passwords for SEQTA Engage.  A new SEQTA Engage Welcome Email will be sent to all Caritas users on Tuesday 23 April.

Year 11 Orienteering - Mambray Creek

Wednesday, 1 May

As part of Year 11 Outdoor Education studies, students will participate in orienteering tasks and leading a group. Students will be assessed towards their skill level of completion, leadership skills, orienteering skills, planning and reflection. Students will be completing two walks with each walk departing from and returning to the Mambray Creek Campground. Students are asked to arrive at school (Woodforde Street) at 8:00am as the bus will be departing at 8:15am sharp. The bus will be departing Mambray Creek at 2:15pm and arriving back at Caritas prior to normal dismissal time of 3:00pm.

Post School Careers Excursion

To support students as they begin to make decisions regarding post school pathways and related subject selections for their senior years of schooling, all Year 10 students are invited to attend a Post School Pathways Excursion to Adelaide. The purpose of the excursion is to provide an opportunity to experience a wider range of options, through visits to both tertiary and vocational education campuses, as well as job and business sites.  The planned itinerary for our excursion has some choices built in and during the PC lessons students have been given more information about each visit, then selected venues that best suit their possible career pathway.

Years 3-6 Primary Choir

We are excited to announce that once again this year, interested students in Years 3-6 from our college have the opportunity to participate in the Primary Choir at Caritas College. Children interested in being involved have been attending choir rehearsals this term on Thursdays after recess, in the music room with Miss Woodards and Mr Bachmann.  Choir sessions will take place every Thursday from 11:00am - 11:55am in the Senior Music Room.  The Primary Caritas Choir will have various performances for family and friends in the local community throughout the term, as well as during school liturgies and the End of Year Carols Night.

Senior Citizen Club Visits

Continuing our relationship with the members of the Senior Citizen Club, students will visit on Tuesdays across Semester 2. During their visit students will be able to talk to new people, engage in some friendly games of lawn bowls and cards and share some of their learning experiences. These visits align to their development of the Social and Emotional Learning skill of social management. Supporting students in real world interactions to communicate effectively with different people.  Students will be walking to and from the club during our regular school day, therefore encouraged to wear PE uniform on scheduled visit day.  See the letter attached for classes and dates.

Year 7 and 10 Student Immunisation Program

Term 2 and 4

The SA School Immunisation Program will be offered at Caritas College by Port Augusta Council Immunisation Program.  There will be two visits, to be confirmed by the Port Augusta Council. These visits will be in Term 2 and 4, communication will be shared with families once confirmed. 

All Year 7 students will be offered;
1 dose of the diphtheria, tetanus and whopping cough vaccine Boostrix
2 doses of the human papillomavirus vaccine, Gardasil 9

All Year 10 students will be offered;
1 dose of the meningococcal ACWY
2 doses of the meningococcal B, Bexero

All parents/ legal guardians are to complete, sign and return the consent cards, even if you do not consent for the student to be vaccinated at school by Thursday 28 March. Students aged 16 years and above can consent for themselves.  Consent forms will be distributed to students at the school.
